Excellence Award for One Minto

30 July, 2010

Sydney, 30 July 2010 –

In another milestone for the successful community development, One Minto has been awarded the Development Excellence Award for Affordable Housing at the Urban Taskforce’s Development Excellence Awards for 2010.

Undertaken by Landcom, Housing NSW and Campbelltown City Council, One Minto practically demonstrates the benefits of government, industry and local community working together.

Landcom Managing Director Sean O’Toole said, “At the heart of One Minto is a united effort to build a better community that encompses affordable living.  We are delighted to share this prestigous award with our stakeholders, Housing NSW and Campbelltown City Council.  It is a testament to the team’s unwavering commitment to making One Minto a success.”

The development has innovatively raised the bar for urban renewable projects, demonstrating the successful integration of private and public housing based on the principle of ‘indistinguishable streetscapes’.  The project will deliver 1,150 quality homes within a reconfigured community where new public houses are scattered amongst a larger majority of affordable private housing.

Chris Johnson, Chairman of the panel of judges for the Development Excellence Awards, said, “These awards recognise the efforts developers made to ensure their projects deliver community benefits, care for the environment, are a commercial success, demonstrate innovation and adopt high standards of urban design and architectural distinction.”

The award comes just days after another successful sales release at One Minto, which saw almost half of the 24 new lots released snapped up on the first weekend.

One Minto has sold a total of 121 land lots since the development’s official opening in July 2008.  Once complete, One Minto will deliver around 1,150 homes with over $10 million worth of community facilities including six new parks with BBQs and play equipment; a $2.4 million new community centre; upgraded childcare facilities and landscaped streets and footpaths.

In further recognition of the development’s success, One Minto has been named a finalist to take out the Affordable Development award as part of the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s (UDIA) National Awards.  The award will be announced on 20 August 2010.
